My HV battery gone and will cost 7200£ plus VAT for parts only. Nightmare of a car....

EV is not a car. It is a Battery. The only value is the battery pack. EV's depreciate like a rock tied to a boulder dropped from 10,000 feet.

Hi. It's me again. Horace (my Auris Hybrid) is still with me. I suppose you could say it's the most boring car I've ever had and I can pay no higher compliment. I don't want to jinx it but in the almost six years I've had it, it has performed flawlessly apart from when the auxilliary battery failed. The one thing I miss with this though is additional gauges e.g. rev counter and water temperature gauge. So I purchased an OBDII bluetooth device and used it with an app called Torque. It worked fine on installation but on subsequent journeys a number of random warning lights appeared on the dash. The car was fine. It was just annoying having these warning lights displayed. As soon as I disconnected the scanner they disappeared. Have you any experience/knowledge of this?

MMT transmission is a cancer, My Auris MMT on the other day.. with just 130.000 KM.. when I was cruising at 80km/h put me in neutral and I had to stop the car, when I switched it off and later on, I had the red exclamation mark at the console and couldn't engage gears with my car, had to towed it to Toyota and they said, "what's the problem with your car?, it seems ok" I answer, please check the car correctely and check if in the ignition gives the red exlamation mark, then switch the engine on and try to engage some gear like E or R, they reprogrammed the MMT actuator computer and changed the gearbox oil, after 3 weeks, AGAIN, bam, red explanation mark on the console and couldn't engage gear, I bet is the stupid actuator that is busted.

Did she sell?

Great video! Beware that torqueing the studs into the block will not give the same result as torqueing the nuts on already bottomed studs because the thread pitch is different in the block and on the nut end of the studs.

You could have saved all that hard work and just polished it with your own jizz. It brings them up like new.

Don’t know how this popped up. I have watched your repainting of that car and honestly thought you were doing the videos as a joke. That car would never sell for anything but scrap in a UK auction. Can’t wait to see what it actually sells for.

Will not go into the final, unexpected engine failure, which will have been sorted out in the meantime, but just on brake bleeding. Once calipers, cylinders and hoses are refurbished or renewed there will always remain tiny bubbles of air inside after a first bleeding job with the Ezibleed guess how I know. It is best to bleed the calipers at the front after driving the B for a short while: the suspension movements will shake the air loose from the internal surfaces and this will assemble at the top of the calipers, where the bleed nipples are located. Pedal bleeding for this short rebleed works just fine. At the rear this is less of an issue IMHO 🙂 BTW sympathetic way of registering the learning moments we all can benefit from 👍

All EVs are the same: A giant battery with a flashy gimmick-filled toy car built around it.

For adjusting the rear brakes one should never use an open spanner, but a special tool with the correctly fitting, small square hole. I've once bought a type with two small sockets in two sizes and swivels holding the ends to the rod inbetween. Works fine and if the adjuster is always turned completely outwards and after greasing turned to the proper setting it will never freeze solid nor will require the steps shown in this video for loosening it. Copper grease may be used, but normal grease or even Waxoyl work just as well 😃 BTW I never managed to grease the handbrake cable by its greasing nipple, but for the very first time having it new and unused lying on the garage floor before mounting 🙁

Surprised they wouldn't consider a reserve. When auctioning my mother's nearly 30 year old Toyota Corona earler this year, Turners in NZ set the reserve at NZ$1000. That's only about €500, but still.
